Where do I go for Adobe and Microsoft Office training now that NPower isn’t offering those classes?
We have negotiated discounts for our nonprofit colleagues through training partners in Washington and Oregon. See our Training Partners page for instructions on how to register directly through the partner organization, and our Training Partner flier for details on classes and pricing.
How do the free brown bags work? Do I need to register ahead of time?
Brown bags are free, informal, one-hour sessions that include an initial presentation and time for sharing of ideas around the table. Participants bring their own lunch and NPower provides the cookies. We ask that you register ahead of time by clicking on the link for each session on our Training Calendar.
NPower’s computer lab is located in our Seattle office at 403 23rd Avenue South. We’re in the Welch Plaza Building on the southwest corner of 23rd Avenue South and South Jackson Street in the Central District. Get bus, bike, and driving directions here.
Street parking is available on South Jackson Street and other side streets in the area east of 23rd Avenue South and is not timed. Please do not park in the Welch Plaza Building parking – they are pretty swift to issue tickets and you risk being towed.
How can I register or check to see if I am registered for a training?
To register, simply submit the online registration form. We will send you a confirmation email within one to three business days of your registration. If you are on the waiting list, we will notify you three business days before the training if a spot has opened up. You can also send an email to training@npowernw.org or call 206.286.8880 to check your registration status.
Who can attend training at NPower?
NPower's training is open to staff and active volunteers at 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations. Staff and volunteers of other 501(c) organizations (including nonprofit educational institutions, associations, civic leagues, clubs, etc.) may also register if space is available.
How much do NPower trainings cost?
Regular rates for NPower trainings are priced for both members and non-members and depend on the length of the training. Contact us for details on cost.
NPower will invoice your organization at the end of each month for all trainings attended by staff within that month. Your organization can send payment by check or money order. If you’d like to pay by credit or debit card, send us an email and we’ll arrange to send you an electronic PayPal invoice.
Ongoing discounts are available for a variety of educational opportunities. We occasionally offer limited-time only promotions which lower cost.
What if I can't make a training?
Sometimes plans change. In the event that you need to withdraw from a training, please let us know at least three business days in advance to avoid being billed. If you’re unable to give notice three business days in advance (late notice withdrawal), you will be billed and invited to retake the training within six months on a space available basis for a $10 administrative fee. If you are unable to provide any advance notice at all (no-show), you will be billed and are invited to retake the training within six months on a space available basis for a $20 administrative fee.
Please plan to arrive at least five minutes early (get some coffee and get a good seat!). If you’re more than 15 minutes late, you may be refused entry at the instructor's discretion, and your registration status will be updated to a late-notice withdrawal (see question directly above).
Why did my training get canceled?
NPower may cancel a training due to low enrollment, inclement weather, or an emergency. In the case of low enrollment, notice will be provided no less than three business days in advance. Cancellations due to inclement weather will correspond with the closure of Seattle Public Schools. To confirm whether or not a training will be held, call us after 7:30am on the day of for a voicemail announcement - 206.286.8880.
What happens if my training gets canceled?
NPower doesn’t like to cancel trainings, but sometimes it happens. If your training is canceled, we can:
1) Register you for the next time the training is offered or for a training with similar content, or
2) Refund your money and refer you to other training resources (i.e. training program, community college class, book, tutor, etc.)
Can someone else take my place?
NPower doesn’t change student names on registrations. If you are unable to attend, please notify NPower as soon as possible (see Withdrawal policy above). Anyone else attending from the same organization must also fill out the registration form.
Can I retake a training without paying for tuition again?
Yes. You can retake a training within six months on a space-available basis for only a $10 administrative fee. Just register as you normally would and make a note that you are registering as a "retake" on your form. You'll receive an update/confirmation on your spot in the training about a week before it begins.
I'm a volunteer or board member at a nonprofit. Can I register and pay for a training myself?
Yes. You may register for training at NPower under your nonprofit's membership status with us. Please be sure to get permission from your organization first. Even if you pay out-of-pocket, your nonprofit will receive a balance sheet showing your activity on their account with us.
