Many area nonprofits have benefited from the funding and support provided by The Seattle Foundation thanks to their focus on a mission to create a healthy community through engaged philanthropy, community knowledge, and leadership. The Foundation wanted to ensure that all members of their staff were utilizing technology effectively to make their work as efficient as possible. The Foundation worked with NPower to create customized classes for technology training. Since their trainings, there has been a noticeable boost in productivity at the Foundation, giving staff more time for the mission because they've invested the time to obtain proper training.

With over 60 years serving the community, The Seattle Foundation’s impact is far-reaching. Many area nonprofits have benefited from the funding and support provided by the Foundation thanks to their focus on a mission to create a healthy community through engaged philanthropy, community knowledge, and leadership.

The Foundation wanted to ensure that all members of their staff were utilizing technology effectively to make their work as efficient as possible. To meet this goal, and to provide continuing professional development for staff, the Foundation worked with NPower to create customized classes for technology training.

“Everybody came away with something – their own nugget of knowledge that will make their daily use of technology more efficient.”

-Barb Peterson, Office Manager

The Challenge

  • Staff expressed a desire for information about specific classes or other support to help make time for technology training.

The Solution

  • The Foundation partnered with NPower to create an organization-wide skills assessment and used the findings to develop a series of customized classes to match the needs identified.
  • Using an individual skills-assessment approach meant that all participants were able to focus on the areas where they needed the most help, maximizing the impact of their investment in training.

The Impact

  • Across the organization there was a noticeable boost in productivity.
  • The Foundation went from the feeling like they didn’t have time for training because they were focused on supporting the mission, to having more time for the mission because they had invested the time to obtain proper training.
  • The success of the first training led them to schedule a second round of trainings to help make the transition to a newer version of Office. The conversion, too, was a success!
