We wrapped up our Blitz, and soon we'll need your feedback

If you follow our Twitter feed or “like” our Facebook page, then you’ve seen a flurry of posts over the last couple of days highlighting our Discovery Blitz. Monday afternoon and all day Tuesday, our entire staff was in the office, but we weren’t working at our desks. Instead, we turned away from our email and spent some dedicated time brainstorming, creating, and innovating solutions to meet the needs of the nonprofit sector. Read our Discovery Blitz kick-off blog post for more background on the thought-process behind our Blitz.

Monday afternoon and all day Tuesday, our entire staff was in the office, but we weren’t working at our desks. Our staff broke up into groups of varying sizes to focus on six different projects. Some project teams had a smattering of staff from different areas of our organization that don’t normally get to work side-by-side (as a member of the community engagement team, I was able to work alongside folks from the database and web teams). These mismatched team members made for an interesting dynamic, and the unique perspectives of each individual took the conversations and project development in some interesting directions.

At the end of the Blitz, every team had made incredible progress on the development of their projects (Cloud Readiness Assessment, Stable & Secure 3.0, Business Continuity Service, Team Fundraising, Salesforce Batch Gift Entry, and Showing the Potential with Maps). Some teams even had demo-able products to share at the final presentations on Tuesday afternoon! It was amazing to see how much progress was made in such a short amount of time, and fun to hear about each team’s “ah-ha!” moment that resulted in a big breakthrough or change in direction.

Karen Fitton and John Poli of our CIO Council sat in on the final presentations (thanks for joining us!) and now, along with the rest of the Council members they will discuss the next steps for these projects and others, and help us to map out plans for moving these innovative initiatives forward.

We’ll also be soliciting feedback from you out there in the NPower community to find out which ideas from the Blitz would make your work easier and more impactful. We’ll be including a link for a short survey to get your feedback in our next NPower Notables eNewsletter and via this blog and our other social media channels. We’d love to hear from you, so be on the lookout for the survey link in the next week or so and tell us how we can help you!
