Last week Google announced the launch of Google for Nonprofits. The program is geared toward US based organizations that want to use Google products to reach more donors, get more publicity for their causes, and operate more efficiently.

Google has been generous with their products in the past, but NPOs were required to apply for grants on a product-by-product basis. This new program will allow organizations to submit one application for an entire suite of products and apps. Included is up to $10,000 per month for AdWords to help drive people to your website; free access to cloud-based Google Apps that can help cut IT costs by utilizing online storage while simultaneously making collaboration simple and secure; and premium membership for YouTube and GoogleMaps that will give you access to storytelling tools to make your pitch more compelling. They also provide access to the Google for Nonprofits Marketplace, a forum that makes skilled tech pros available for little or no cost to assist in implementing their products. Pretty sweet, huh?

What’s more – they are committed to answering all applications with a yea or nay within 30 days. That’s music to the ears of anyone who has had to wait months for a response to a grant proposal.

Of course, it’s always a good idea to consider the needs of your organization and the time available to implement these tools before jumping in. As of late, we’ve been helping a few clients figure out what Google apps are good for them. If you want help determining if these tools are right for you, don't hesitate to get in touch with us.
