As a leading social media agency in the Seattle area, Nology Media depends on the community for our success. Through our ongoing partnership with nonprofits like The Moyer Foundation, we have truly seen the impact of social media used for social good. So, we were thrilled when the opportunity arose to volunteer for NPower's Social Media Coaching project as part of United Way of King County’s Day of Caring because that meant we could help our community and demonstrate the value of social media, again.
We were assigned The Cross Cultural Health Care Program, which endeavors to enhance the abilities of health professionals to provide culturally competent and linguistically appropriate care. When we met with our contact Priya, we were happy to see someone as excited as we were about the day ahead of us. It felt very gratifying to help someone who was kind and eager to learn more about social media, and the tactics that could be used to further CCHCP’s cause.
For the both of us, a big takeaway from our Day of Caring experience was actually gaining a greater perspective into the world of nonprofits, of the resources available to them and learning how funds are allocated. Sometimes the practices most companies take for granted, like marketing, are not first on the list. The money is often funneled straight to where it’s needed most: to help people.
To us, this validated how social media can help all companies as an effective marketing medium. If social media can help nonprofits like CCHCP better market themselves so they can, in turn, raise more money and foster awareness to help others, we should all as a community do what we can - even if only for a few hours. A special thanks to United Way of King County for organizing this Day of Caring for nonprofits throughout Seattle. Also, thanks to CCHCP for allowing our team to learn more about the great work your program provides. Nology looks forward to next year’s Day of Caring!
