Cindy Bates

Cindy is the Vice President of Microsoft’s US SMB Organization where she is responsible for the company’s end-to-end SMB sales and marketing efforts. She’s been with Microsoft for over ten years and has held positions in corporate development and strategy, the US small business group and the US partner strategy, marketing and programs group. Before joining Microsoft, Cindy worked for Merrill Lynch and as a management consultant for Strategic Planning Associates, a Washington, D.C.-based firm. She holds BA’s in International Economics and Molecular Biology from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Harvard University.

Cindy sees first-hand how technology helps small and mid-sized companies start, grow, and thrive on a daily basis in her role at Microsoft. She is excited about NPower’s ability to harness the power of technology and apply it to nonprofits to enable them to fulfill their missions, thereby helping our entire community. It’s that excitement that led Cindy to join the NPower Board in 2010 and serve as borad Secretary in 2011. Outside of work and board service, Cindy loves spending time with her family and friends. She is a big music fan and frequent attendee of local concerts. She also enjoys playing tennis and squash, and is an avid reader.
